Carla Tanner is a senior planner for the Community Service Council. She has been the Senior Planner for Disabilities and Director of the Tulsa Area Alliance on Disabilities since 2002. She also has facilitated the Tulsa Systems of Care Community Team since 2004, for the purpose of transformation of the behavioral and emotional service system to be more accessible to children, youth, and families with appropriate community based services.
Prior to her work with the Council, she served as a district level administrator of Special Education at Tulsa Public Schools. She was an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Northeastern State University of Oklahoma for four years. She has supervised programs for children with special needs, developed written policies, and trained teachers and other professionals in areas including autism, Individual Education Plans, behavioral supports, guidelines for use of time out, paraprofessional training, and working with and developing a positive relationship with parents and families.
Carla has a bachelors degree from the University of Tulsa and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University.
